JCI Ibadan moves to combat climate change, empower members
Junior Chamber International Ibadan just concluded a Weekend of Impact.
The series of events started with members of JCI Ibadan flagging off a Green City Project. The Tree-planting campaign, led by Chapter President Olawale Bakare and National Vice President Feyisayo Oyeleke, took place at UMC Demonstration school, Molete Ibadan. Prior to planting the trees, students and staff of the school were given a short orientation of the importance of trees to the environment and the need to sustain such. Students committed to tendering the trees till they mature. As partners to the United Nations on Sustainable development Goals, JCI Ibadan plans to carry on the campaign round schools in Ibadan to encourage action that combats climate change as SDG 11 envisages.
Members then proceeded to Ile-Ife in Osun state for a training retreat hosted in collaboration with a sister-Chapter, JCI Oluyole. The retreat, which took place at Celebration Hotel, was themed "Mind Your Own Business". Seasoned Trainers took participants through sequential lessons from goal setting, business idea generation to management. The Training Faculty included Mr Sheriff Ibrahim (Founder/CEO My Cash Invest), Engineer Iyiola Folayan (A Network Engineer at VDT Communications) and Mr Frank Alarapon (Business Development Manager, Wema Bank Plc). Delegates then had a business roundtable to discuss ideas and get mentorship from successful entrepreneurs like Frank Alarapon, JCIN Ambassador Lekan Wasiudeen (CEO Libra Multimedia) and a host of others.
The retreat, which was also graced by Secretary-General, Africa and Middle East Senate Association of JCI, Abiodun Oyeleke; National President of JCI Nigeria Tunji Oyeyemi and Executive Vice-President Henry Adedokun, ended with delegates and trainers visiting Erin-Ijesha waterfall to unwind.
