JCI IBADAN SAFE HIGH WAYS PROJECT

Jun 17th 2016

"Of the issues that move the development community and the giving public (hunger, extreme poverty, maternal mortality), road safety is barely on the radar. Yet road crashes are a man-made epidemic that accounts for more than 1.2 million deaths a year, the vast majority – 90% – in developing countries. Worldwide road crashes are the number one killer of young people over the age of 15, claim more lives than malaria, and injure tens of millions a year"- The Guardian (2015)

SDG Target 3.6 of the #UN #GlobalGoals seeks "by 2020 to halve global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents".

Majority of the accidents on Lagos/Ibadan Expressway involve truck drivers. JCI Ibadan is taking action to reduce this 'man made' menace.

Join us at the Toll Gate the Ibadan end of the Lagos/ Ibadan Expressway on July 29th 3016 as we sensitize over 500 truck drivers and road users on basic road safety tips (Avoiding accidents from brake failures and tire bursts, safety checks before driving, adherence to speed limits, avoiding alcohol, papers to have to avoid fines).
