After what has been a long nomination and review process followed by a thorough process of assessment by independent judges, a list of Finalist in the Ten categories of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award, has finally been released for the public voting segment of the award process.

The panel of judges which includes JCI Senator Jokotade Odebunmi, CEO Aqualib Limited and 2003 JCI Nigeria President;

Dr. Mukhtar Abdulkadir, past TOYP honoree and Associate Professor, Federal University of Technology, Minna;

Professor Gloria Chukwudebe, Dean, School of Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri;

Dr. Gloria Udoh, Social Performance/Investment Manager, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd;

Aisha Augie-Kuta, Special Adviser on Digital Communications and Strategy to the Federal Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning; and Mr. Akin Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Ekiti State; upon assessment of the candidates, presented the top nominees in each category, to the independent auditors, UHY Maaji who have further vetted the list in preparation for voting by the general public.

According to Mrs. Kemi Irinoye, Chairperson, Central Planning Committee TOYP of Nigeria, the process of determining the final honorees is rigorous because of the commitment of JCI Nigeria to sustain the integrity of the TOYP Award. She added that some of the successful nominees also stood a chance of emerging as honorees at the global JCI TOYP event in Johannesburg, South Africa in November 2021.

The Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Nigeria Award will be presented at an Award ceremony in August 2021, to one honoree in each of the categories including Business, Economic and/or Entrepreneurial Accomplishment; Political, Legal and/or Government Affairs; Academic Leadership and/or Accomplishment; Cultural Achievement; Moral and/or Environmental Leadership; Contribution to Children, World Peace and/or Human Rights; Humanitarian and/or Voluntary Leadership; Scientific and/or Technological Development; Personal Improvement and/or Accomplishment; and Medical Innovation.

The voting portal which is http://vote.jci.ng is set to open on today 3rd of May, 2021 at 9:00 hours and it is to be managed privately by the team of independent auditors at UHY Maaji

Youth across Nigeria as well as the general public are enjoined to critically review the individual profiles showcasing the contributions of each of the nominees to society, as they cast their votes in favour of prospective winners.
